Buy for a scent you enjoy through the day, not an unverified promise of a fixed number of hours. We have not run a controlled wear test that establishes a longest-lasting winner. These three distinct scent directions are candidates to sample; none is guaranteed to last longer on you than another.

Choose the scent direction first

If you want… Candidate to sample Why you might skip it
Coffee and vanilla with white flowers YSL Black Opium Eau de Parfum Sweet floral warmth is not a fresh, neutral direction
Brown-sugar vanilla and tonka KAYALI Vanilla 28 Eau de Parfum A poor match if sweetness itself is the problem
Citrus, aquatic and aromatic facets over woods Versace Dylan Blue Pour Homme EDT Choose a different direction if you want vanilla to lead

The profiles come from YSL’s Black Opium coffee-accord description , KAYALI’s Vanilla 28 page , and Versace’s Dylan Blue Pour Homme page . They describe composition, not comparative longevity results.

Make a sample answer the purchase question

Test one fragrance at a time over several ordinary days. Use its directions, keep the amount consistent, and avoid changing your other scented products between tests. Record the setting and weather so you do not confuse a hot outdoor day with an air-conditioned evening.

Checkpoint What to record
After the opening settles Do you enjoy the scent, rather than merely notice it?
Around the middle of your usual day Can you or someone nearby still detect it without repeated close sniffing?
When you would normally reapply Is it absent, or have you stopped noticing it?
End of the day Would you choose to wear it again at this amount?

These are your own observation points, not product-specific hour promises. Ask a willing person nearby before adding more because your perception may change during wear. Do not increase the amount simply to force a trail in shared spaces.

Buy the exact version you tested

The Black Opium link is a named search and may show other flankers. The other links identify the stated full bottles, which suit buyers who have already sampled them. Check concentration, size, seller and return terms; a stronger-sounding version is not necessarily the same scent with better wear.

Compare value after the trial

A scent that needs occasional reapplication can still be good value if you enjoy it and use it. A supposedly powerful fragrance is poor value when you avoid wearing it. Compare the delivered cost of the bottle size you will finish, rather than using price per ml to justify an unfamiliar 100 ml purchase.

Our bottle-size guide helps with that commitment. If you are comparing concentration labels, read EDP versus EDT before treating them as a universal performance scale.

Judging persistence fairly

Being unable to smell it yourself later does not prove it has vanished for everyone, and something can persist near the application point without a strong trail. A reviewer’s hours are a question to investigate, not a guaranteed result for you. If you prefer brightness you need not abandon it before looking at useful persistence. Do not apply to clothing or hair, or over lotion, merely to claim a longer result.
