Choose a fruity perfume by both the fruit theme and what surrounds it. Pear with freesia is a different brief from cherry with almond, or fig leaves with woods. Sweetness is not inherently juvenile, and a high price does not prove realism or sophistication.

These five candidates provide distinct comparisons based on published descriptions. We have not worn them side by side or measured their projection. The table is a way to choose samples, not a ranking of how accurately each recreates edible fruit.

For another documented tropical-fruit brief, our Lattafa Yara Tous review examines mango, coconut and passionfruit with floral and vanilla-musk support. It also separates the intended bottle from mixed sets and concentrated oils.

Fruit plus supporting notes

Candidate Published fruit theme Other elements that may decide the purchase
Byredo Pulp EDP Blackcurrant, fig and red apple Cardamom, tiare, woods and praline
Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia Cologne Williams pear Freesia and patchouli
Diptyque Philosykos EDP Fig-tree theme Leaves, sap, pepper and a woody emphasis
Tom Ford Lost Cherry EDP Cherry Bitter almond, rose, balsam and tonka
Vilhelm Mango Skin Mango and blackberries Black pepper, orris, lotus, jasmine, patchouli, vanilla and pink sugar

Pulp: more than one fruit in the description

Byredo’s Pulp page lists bergamot, blackcurrant and cardamom, then fig, red apple and tiare, with cedar, praline and peach-flower notes. It is the multi-fruit candidate rather than a single-fruit study.

Consider it if that mixture interests you. If you only want pear, a more direct pear-led shortlist may answer your question better. The brand’s fruit-basket imagery is a description, not our evidence of photorealism or current US availability.

English Pear & Freesia: fruit with a floral centre

Jo Malone’s Cologne identifies Williams pear, freesia and patchouli. It is useful to sample when you want fruit alongside a clearly floral element.

Keep Freesia in the product name. English Pear & Sweet Pea, a diffuser and body products are separate offers. The Cologne label does not set a guaranteed wear time or prove it will be discreet in shared spaces.

Philosykos EDP: the woodier fig choice

Diptyque’s EDP description specifically says the fruit recedes as white cedar emphasises the tree and bark. That is a reason to reconsider this candidate if you are shopping for a fruit-dominant perfume.

Sample it when leaves and wood are part of the attraction. Compare the EDT separately if you want to explore the brand’s other fig-tree interpretation. Neither “green” nor “fig” tells you that the full formula is natural or free of sweetness.

Lost Cherry: almond is part of the choice

Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry combines cherry and bitter-almond notes with rose, balsam and tonka. Someone who likes cherries but dislikes almond associations has a specific reason to sample before committing.

Our Lost Cherry review covers the Cherry Smoke distinction, exact 50 ml listing and how unused volume changes practical value. Use it for the bottle decision after deciding whether this cherry-and-almond direction is what you want.

Mango Skin: correct the berry and pepper

Vilhelm’s current profile names blackberries and black pepper. Its supporting notes include orris, black lotus, jasmine, patchouli, vanilla and pink sugar.

It is worth investigating when mango with sweet, floral and spicy support appeals to you. The mango name does not make it a pure mango aroma, and we cannot promise that it will never remind a wearer of a body product. That is a personal response to establish through sampling.

Compare what could make you reject the bottle

List the fruit you want, then the supporting element you are least certain about: freesia, almond, woods, praline or vanilla, for example. Choose the sample that resolves that uncertainty. If a supporting note is what you dislike throughout your own wear, a lower price on a larger bottle does not solve the mismatch.
