For a plug-in room fragrance budget below $20, count the warmer and refills together. A refill-only price does not tell a first-time buyer what a working setup costs. The Glade example below came to under $10 before tax and delivery at the prices checked on September 11, 2026.
This is a price and compatibility check, not a tested ranking of scent strength, comfort or runtime.
A complete setup with a documented price
| Item | Price band | What it supplies |
|---|---|---|
| Glade PlugIns Scented Oil Warmer, one unit at Target | Under $5 | Warmer only |
| Glade Clean Linen Scented Oil Refills, two-pack at Target | Under $10 | Two refills, 1.34 fl oz combined; no warmer |
| Both items | Under $10 | One working warmer and two compatible refills |
These are US listing prices, without membership coupons. Local availability, shipping and checkout prices may differ. A strict $20 delivered budget leaves more than $10 for tax and delivery in this example. Check the final total before ordering.
If you already have the matching Glade warmer, the relevant purchase is the refill pack (under $10). Buying another warmer adds a few dollars without adding fragrance. Conversely, buying only refills for a home with no compatible warmer leaves the setup incomplete.
Target also listed five Clean Linen refills for $10 to $15 . That is a lower cost per refill than the two-pack. Adding one warmer gives an initial basket of roughly $10 to $15. The larger pack reduces the listed unit cost but requires a few dollars more upfront than the two-pack setup. It makes little sense to buy five before deciding whether you like that fragrance.
Compatibility comes before the scent name
Glade’s warmer instructions specify Glade PlugIns Scented Oil refills. Do not assume that a bottle from Air Wick, Febreze, Yankee Candle or Bath & Body Works is interchangeable because it is also sold as a plug-in refill.
Check the product family printed on both packages. A warmer, a starter kit and a refill pack are different purchases; pack photographs and the exact contents matter more than a search-result title.
The instructions require the warmer to remain upright in a functioning 120-volt outlet, with airflow unobstructed and clearance from fabrics and furniture. Follow the package directions for your unit. A cheap refill is not a reason to improvise compatibility or placement.
What the price comparison cannot establish
Clean Linen is described with fresh-air, laundry and floral notes. That description can help you decide whether to try it; it cannot establish that it is the safest, calmest or most pleasant choice for everyone in a room.
We have not measured how long these refills last in a particular home, how quickly someone notices the fragrance, or how large a space one unit scents evenly. Advertised maximum durations should retain their specified setting and conditions. They are not a reliable basis for claiming a fixed monthly cost in your home.
A fragrance also does not identify or remove the source of an unwanted smell. Address the source before deciding whether to add scent. If people sharing the space do not want fragrance, a plug-in is an unnecessary purchase.
Buying decision
For the documented prices above, choose the warmer plus two refills if you are trying this system for the first time. Choose compatible refills alone if you already own the warmer. Consider the five-pack only after the fragrance works for your household and the larger upfront purchase fits your budget.
